The sponge, sea animal very primitive, of the phylum Porifera, lives in warm waters and looks like a plant. He sometimes looks like an urn, sometimes that of a small bush. Its walls are pierced with small holes through which water enters the central cavity, bringing the tiny prey which feeds the sponge.
What we know as the sponge is, in fact, the skeleton of the animal. After being cut at the base, the fishermen left to rot in order to get rid of the soft tissues. They are then cleaned, rinsed and kneaded at length so that only the skeleton remains, then they are bleached.
Nowadays, most of the sponge fishermen use the suit. This method of fishing used to select beautiful pieces and let it grow smaller.
